Garlic Related Trivia:

America’s history with the herb wasn’t always positive. At one time, gourmands frowned on garlic as it was used mainly in ethnic, working-class neighbourhoods. Diner slang in the 1920s coined the put downs Bronx vanilla, halitosis and Italian perfume as substitute descriptions for garlic. By 1940, though, America embraced garlic, finally recognizing its value.

Alliumphobia is what the fear of garlic is called.

Garlic only contains 4 calories per clove.

Chicago was named after the American Indian word for the wild garlic that grew around Lake Michigan, chicagaoua.
